Painting little girls is always a lot of fun; and when you can conjure up a fairy tale background like this to put them in, it's even more of a treat. But a background as complicated as this one can easily take as long to paint as the portrait itself. In the last century this part of the painting and possibly the little girl's clothing as well, would most likely have been "sub-contracted" out to a specialist, while the portrait artist painted only the face. |
| Even little boys can look good in a garden setting. The trick is trying to catch them to sit still long enough to get a few good photos. |
